our "foggy soggy" mountain morning

pete's been marked

pete and trey filled water bottles

here we go - off to the transition area

check out the fog, it was as thick as pea soup

suited up and ready for his swim. water temp. was a toasty 74 degrees.

waiting for his heat to be given the go ahead

the 30 - 39ers are off

he's coming in. 1000 meters in 20 minutes and
he swam at least 200-300 meters in the wrong direction. OPPPPS!

time to hit the bike for 22 miles.

there he goes...

and there they go!

coming in and averaged 17.6 miles per hour

looking for dad.
trey knows he's in there somewhere.

just 5.5 miles to go .

here he comes.

kate is trying to put the medal she made for pete
around his neck but he isn't quite ready to hold still.

congratulating their champ!

per kate that is. she intends to write a story about our weekend. pete on the other hand would have probably choose a few other words to describe saturday.
you can see we got a picture of just about every moment of the event with the exception of the actual finish. reason being... trey was is the middle of his meltdown. 3 and half hours with very little food and a very very hot last hour was all he could take. but nevertheless pete finished strong. 47th overall and he wasn't even aware that his transition time counted. he's already thinking about #2.
it was an amazing morning and such a great event to be a part of. there were people of all ages there to participant and to show their support. i loved seeing the excitement in the kids eyes as they anxiously waited for pete to come and go. if you only could have heard trey whaling "GO DADDY" as he swam. it was fantastic.
maybe tomorrow i'll post pics of how the kids and i passed our time in between segments. it certainly got interesting.
way to go daddy. we sure are proud of you!
